The Music The Members Of The Mavericks Listen To
All great bands have several things in common, and one of those things are influences. Each legendary musician has drawn from (but not copied) their idols, from Led Zeppelin to Hendrix, they have all been inspired by someone else. Often if you listen closely enough you can pick out their influences, which makes for a whole new dimension in the music.
Alternative country band The Mavericks are no different, as they draw upon several influences, which is part of their unique sound. Singers like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and the aforementioned Zeppelin often come up when artists are asked to define these influences, and The Mavericks have certainly been influenced by all three. More notable influences on this group have been other country legends like Hank Williams, Buck Owens, and Willie Nelson.
Often what makes a great artist is the ability to be impacted by other styles, but also the creative energy to make their own sound, combined with some of the good elements of their influences. The Mavericks have successfully done this, and have managed to released 5 well regarded albums. Musical influences can also change however, because people go through musical phases which lead them into places that they may not have expected.
Many times an artist will alter their style a bit between albums based upon their current “mode” of writing, and this mode of writing can be highly impacted by the stuff that they are listening to at the time. All artists exhibit this with few or no exceptions, and it can make for some of the most brilliant music known to man. Although they are no longer a group, The Mavericks demonstrated great talent and it isn’t too hard to see that their influences and musical idols were talented and had a positive impact on the band. The information party rocks on: Kutiman Riffs on Led Zeppelin With New YouTube Mashup
